This long pair of Hudiedao, 19th century Chinese fighting swords.
63cms overall with broad pattern welded blades 12mm thick and 40mm wide at the base, they taper to a strong needle tip, being 2mm wide at this point.
Thinner bronze knuckle guards and quillons than seen on item s009, this makes for ease of control and room for the thumb when twirling these into a forearm defense position.
The hilt slabs are superbly carved in Rosewood with Chinese key pattern relief to the outer edges and floral carvings in the centre.
Period repair to the tip of the right hand sword blade.
A very seldom seen style of Hudiedao.
