A gorgeous fighting knife or sword from the Philippine region.
A strong forged blade with a clear inserted edge, the blade measures 37cms long with a hilt of 17cms. The blade profile is most unusual with the spine stepping down 15cms from the hilt, then curves slightly up for the next 15cms and then drops in to a very nice clipped point that iss often seen on the Bowies of the old west and England. 35mm wide at the hilt, 50mm wide at the tip. 7mm wide at the hilt with nice distal taper to the tip.
The hilt is very nicely carved from horn, has a few very small worm holes that do not detract from the beauty of this piece. The pommel cap is triple stacked brass where the tang is peened over.
Overall a super nice and substantial fighting piece.
