A very rare boys sword, 1796 light cavalry pattern sabre.

This boys or Ensigns sword measures 78cm long in the scabbard.
Out of the scabbard it is 74cms with a blade length of 63.5cms.
The scabbard is all steel with two upper suspension mounts and rings. The retaining slides in the scabbard throat are now missing.
The hilt is of brass construction with a leather bound grip over timber.
Its blade is free from chips or pitting and is now darkened with age.
The hilt is approx 5mm smaller than a standard issue sabre, whilst the blade is much smaller than a 1796 light cavalry sabre

A very rare and unusual sword in great condition for its age.
