A fine and very rare Yemen sabre with a Rhino horn hilt of Karabella form.

In the scabbard it measures 87.5cms long.
Out of the scabbard it is 85cms long with a blade length of 72cms.
The blade is of the Ottoman Pala type profile. The spine is of "T" form through to the back edge which is unsharpened and 27cms long.
The blade is between 4.5 & 5cms wide throughout its entire length, is strong yet pliable and resounds with a clear bell ring when struck.
The hilt is Rhino horn grip slabs that are decorated with brass inlay and silver floral rosettes. It is finished with a decorative silver grip strap. The guard is of typical form for the region, is of silver and is also decorated with floral motifs.
The scabbard is original timber inners and silver fittings now covered in a renewed thick fabric covering, stitched very precisely with the stitching being hidden on the inside.
The sabre seats tightly into the scabbard with a firm snap.

A very rare sword type rarely seen in the market place.
