A fine and complete Somali Billao dagger.

This Somali knife measures 42cms long in the sheath.
Out of the sheath it is 41cms long and has a blade length of 23cms.
The hilt is constructed from ivory. It has through the grip, two thin black horn sections separated by a pewter spacer. There is a brass bolster to the blade end and a silver faceted spire through which the tang is peened for a pommel.
The blade is a broad asymmetrical type with a raised medial ridge running the entire length of the blade.
The sheath is in exceptional condition throughout being of a stitched and decorated rawhide construction with a complete leather belt and buckle.

A very good example of the type with an ivory hilt that appears to be marine ivory.
