A rare fighting spear of the Zulu tribes.

This short stout fighting spear is typically associated as being of the earlier known forms used in conjunction with their large shields to deliver a devastating killing attack with a single thrust from the massive spear head.
The spear measures 103cms long with the shaft being 58cms long and the heavy spear head being 45cms long.
The spear head is 6.5cms across at the widest point and tapers nicely from the medial ridges to the edges and from the broad section through to the tip.
The spear head is kept in place with shrunken and woven section of animal hide.
The shaft is approx 3cms across and flares at the base to 6cms, an aspect that greatly helps with pulling this stabbing spear from any unfortunate victim.

A fine and rare example.
