A very fine and complete African Kaskara.

This large Medieval type sword is from the Sudan of east African, being from the early to mid 20th century.
The sword is of a type typically referred to as a Kassala type and it entirely locally manufactured and used.
The silver wrapped grip and pommel have decorated surfaces and help retain the steel cross guard in place. To the pommel end of the grip is short large wool like knot and tassel, typical of the sword type.
The blade resembles that of the early European trade blades found through out Africa. It is sharp, with strong beveled edges and a deep wide fuller running the through to the tip.
The scabbard is bound in tooled leather, has steel suspension rings and remains in excellent condition.

A very fine and complete example throughout.
