A good pair of 19th century Shunag Jian.

This pair measure 66cms long in their scabbard.
Out they measures 57cms long with blades that are 42cms long.
The hilts brass fittings with bulbous horn grips. The pommels from ancient dragon motifs whilst the guards are of a dragon or Yazi face.
The blades are of an early style being flat to the underside and having a raised medial ridge running for their length.
Each blade is inlayed with brass plugs of the seven star or big dipper form. Running between these plugs are chiseled serpentine lines.
The scabbard is timber encased in ray skin and brass fittings.

A good example of the type with fine clean blades.
