A very good Sumatran sword, Sikkin Panjang with a very fine blade type.

This sword measures 76.5cms long in its scabbard.
Out it is 68.5cms long with a 57cms long blade inclusive of the stem ring.
The hilt is carved and decorated horn of the Hulu Rumpung type.
The 9 petal stem ring widens in to a very good Damascus or pattern welded blade of typical form and construction. Clear blade patterns are seen in the steel on both sides and the multiple layers of steel used in its construction are seen stacked when looking on to the spine of the blade.
The scabbard is at fault with loss of the timber to the throat and a split in on if the upper metal fittings binding the scabbard. The front face of the timber scabbard is expertly engraved and ink filled with deeper relief to the throat area.
The metal bindings used on this example are a rare tpe seldom seen.

A very nice and well priced example of a North Sumatran Sikkin Panjang.
