A good Sumatran Keris with a large Chieftain like sheath.

This Keris measures just under 42cms long in its sheath and 39cms long out. Its blade length is 33cms long.
The hilt is well carved from a rich dark timber and has just a minor loss to the crown.
The hilt sits in an unusual rarer type of cup with engraved surfaces.
Its old blade is dark with age and of a 9 luk form and of a hexagonal cross section.
The sheath carries a cross piece of very large proportions, a size typically seen on Bugis Chieftain Keris.
It is dressed in finely decorated silver fittings that show both floral and geometric designs. The base fitting lost to time.

A good old Keris of interesting and unusual styling at would grade up very well.
