A large and rare Burmese Dha with a high quality blade.

This Burmese sword measures just over 93cms long in its scabbard, 91.5cms out and has a blade length of 70cms, a size rarely seen.
The silver hilt is dressed with wire decorations to each end and a large silver and Niello central panel.
The detailed central panel depicts people, birds and a lady that appears to be in the jaws of a large cat. One of the men pictured is carrying a Burmese Dha of similar profile to the sword described here.
The large blade of fighting quality remains in excellent condition throughout. It is razor sharp and retains its complete high quality decoration.
The spine is fully embellished along both the flat and medial ridge with silver and brass metals. Both faces are hollow forged and filled with silver animals and vine motifs, animals that include mythical beasts, birds, elephants, tigers, deer and monkeys. Each decorative face is bordered with brass and copper coloured metals.
The scabbard is a well grained timber type bound in simple rattan rings.

An exceptional and very large example of the type.
