A very rare fine & pair of Wing Chin sized 19th century Hudiedao with their original sheath.

In their sheath, this pair of fighting knives measure 45cms long.
Out of the sheath they measure 43cms long with a blade length of 32cms.
These knives are precision made with construction aspects rarely seen. Of note is the perfect alignment of the blades. Such care has been taken to align the angles of the full length tangs through the grips, that when the flat sides of these knives hilts are together the tips of the blades meet perfectly.
The large iron guard are also of a seldom seen form, being rectangular in cross section, having a raised medial ridge through the knuckle guards and quillons extended further than typically seen, quillons which also have decorative faceted aspects to the outer edge.
Within these one piece knuckle bow and quillons are horn grips capped in brass collars.
The blades are broad based, single fullers and have long hatchet like tips.
Rarely seen on these old weapon types are the sheath. This sheath with the double lucky coin motif stitched in to the throat remain is solid non deteriorated condition.

A very rare complete set of traditional Chinese fighting knives, also known as Butterfly swords.

A perfect addition to a modern Wing Chun martial artist's collection.
