A solid high quality Spear or Javelin from the Kelling Hall collection.

Overall this piece is 169cms, has a 42cm forged iron spear head and a tapered brass collar of approx 8cms.
The spear head is mounted to a long section of tapering solid timber free of cracks or damages.
The entire shaft is covered with incised lines and the foot shows a carved faceted section that gives the appearance of a horn base being added to this piece.
Unlike the other spears, lances of Javelins found in the Kelling Hall collection, this piece has a point of balance approx 12cms back from the collar and again has the feel of very good flight.
The head of this example has a slight taper and another more interesting faceted surface between the head and the collar.

A high quality Javelin most likely of status that has remained untouched for the last 100+ years.
