Indian sword, Firanghi, 18h century.
A nice old warrior that obviously served the original owner well.
Overall this sword is 116cms long with a blade length of 94cms.
The large Khanda hilt retains much of its original gold Koftgari, the original fibre bound grip and interior leather and cloth padding, all of which are seldom seen. The knuckle guard shows very old repairs in iron bands with copper rivets.
The blade is well marked with European gulid marks and native dot markings. The blade is supported at the forte by shaped steel reinforcing with the upper most tip resembling the profile of Yali.
This sword is also found with good portions of its original scabard.
A nice old warrior seldom seen with all these elements.
