A large Khanda hilted fighting sword with a thick deeply curved blade.
Overall this sword is 95cms long with a blade of 72cms in a straight line.
The Khanda hilt is of thick steel construction, it retains its original fibre and leather grip that is in very good condition. The basket hilt also retains various silver Koftgari designs to its surface and an all over dark patina being the protective coating of Cosmolene that would have been applied when the collection this came from was first formed. The hilt would grade up should the cosmolene be removed.
The blade has a double 'eyelash' stamp to one side of the blade, is hollow ground and shows a clear temper line along the deeply curved cutting edge. The blade has a 23cms sharpened back edge to the tip.
This example comes complete with good portions of the original scabbard timbers and covering, something that is not often seen.
Overall a very good rare fighting sword of good proportions with a thick, robust blade.
