Very unusual Khanda hilted Ayda Katti blade.
Overall in the scabbard this example is 66cms, out it is 64cms with the blade length of the cutting edge being just over 41cms.
Complete with the original timber and green velvet scabbard, the sword remains in very good condition. The blade is a watered steel type showing clear patterns to the surfaces. The Khanda hilt is of good solid steel showing nice designs and a curved pommel spike and is structually sound. The scabbard does have some losses to the timber but considering the rugged life these old warriors had it is surprising a scabbard of any kind is present.
Through either trade or warfare a Mahratta 'Hindu basket hilt' was been married with a Coorg Ayda Katti blade.
A unique fighting sword.
