Sapola, very rare Indian sword.

This rare sabre from India is also known as Dhu'l-faqar, Thulfiqar, Dhulfaqar, Zolfaqar, Zülfikar Zulfiqur, Zulfiqar, Zulfikar.
This example dates to the end of the 18th century and is of Tulwar/Tegha form with a strong robust blade with split tip and serrated edges to the cutting curve and the rear Kilij style yelman.
Overall this deeply curved fighting sword measures 85cms long from tip to tip in a straight line with a blade of 72cms and just under 10cms at the widest point.
The blade retains small amounts partial gold Koftgari.
The large hilt retained much of its original silver covering.
The large disc pommel is pierced.
Knuckle guard is lacking and sword is in original untouched condition.

A very rare find in great condition for its age.
