A very old and fine South Indian Patissa in very good condition.
This lovely nimble fighting sword measures just over 90cms long with a blade length of 80cms being measured from the top of the guard.
The hilt is very finely chiseled with decorations of sunflowers, fish and geometric designs that cover the entire surface. The cup pommel has within a twisted iron bar that appears to be the tang extended and returned to form a circle. From it hangs two other twisted iron rings of the same form but smaller.
The blade is a fine razor of a blade, the steel is an expertly controlled Wootz steel showing very good clear and attractive pattern and the entire blade remains in very fine condition.
Overall a very fine example of original unaltered construction.
