Gurkha presentation Kukri of superb quality.
A rare and outstanding example of an all steel Kukri from the WWI period.
Overall this Kukri measures 49cms overall in the sheath, 47cms out with a expertly forged blade of 37cms.
The hilt is all steel and very finely chiseled to all surfaces including the pommel. The chiseled panels are covered in applied silver with only minimal losses.
The pommel shows a partial full tand peened over a brass rosette.
The forged Dui Chirra blade has been made with surgical precision, all edges are crisp and razor sharp, clear double fullers from the bolster to the tip are expertly forged.
Evidence of the forged construction can be seen is several small areas but for the most part the original full polish hides these natural features.
To the right side, an acid etched presentation panel states "Presented by S M Narbir Thapa". The left side of the forte shows a very clear armours mark being a chiseled mark of an upside down Kaudi. The double peacock Kaudi is a very interesting feature.
The scabbard remains free from loss or damage and is complete with the Karda and Chakmak both of which are matching single edged knives as is the norm with the higher end manufactured Kukri.
An outstanding example of an all steel Kukri.
