A very attractive Thai sword from the late 18th century.
This piece measures 83cms in the scabbard, 79cms out with a blade 44cms long.
The hilt shows a seldom seem chain link mid grip covered in a dark translucent resin that has a very positive grip feel, this also adds a decent amount of weight to the normally light hilts of these swords.
Where the blade and hilt meet, the grip is of a hexagonal section. The mouth section of the scabbard is also of this hexagonal form that changes to an oval section for the remainder of the scabbard.
Both hilt and scabbard show decorative wire silver work and the hilt has many decorative rings that also serve to aid grip. The pommel is of simple form and free from damage.
The blade shows clear laminations, is very sharp and free from chips, pitting or nicks.
A very nice sword in the hand with a perfect balance point where the hilt and blade meet.
