A nice heavy native made Gile from the Afar tribal regions on East Africa.
Overall in the sheath this African knife is 53cms, out it is 40.5cms with a blade of 28cms.
The hilt is timber with brass studs to one side (one now missing) and a brass domed pommel. There is a small age crack to each side of the timber.
The sheath is a thick leather outer stitched with leather cord over a thick leather inner. Portions of the original belt remain as does a large brass plate to the front with decorative brass and iron plate keepers.
The blade native forged with a raised medial ridge and a dark patina free from pitting.
A good seldom seen Afar knife and sheath.
