A beautiful and fine Golok / short sword from the Java regions.
Overall in the scabbard this Golok is 68cms, out it is 64cms with a 52cm blade.
The hilt is a very finely carved horn base with thick decorative silver panel coverings in what appears to be a Makara head. The horn shows luminous surfaces and is free from loss or damage. The silver work is very finely and expertly decoarted.
The scabbard is timber with light gauge silver decorative bands, drag and a sash clip with a thick silver scabbard throat decorated in the same manner as the hilt.
The blade has a thick spine with distal taper to the tip, a block forte, fullered blade and a clipped tip of unusual form.
A fine old fighting sword of very attractive form.
