A fine late Qajar period Gazelle head axe / mace.
The axe is 64cms overall. The axe carries a well formed distal tapered and curved head that has a gazelle formed weight attached to the head.
The head is pinned to the shaft with a single iron rivet and there is some movement to the area.
The shaft is an iron tube with strengthening bands spaced evening along the length. The base of the shaft is flared with an iron spike.
most surfaces are decorated in silver koftgari.
