A very fine and complete English Officers sword of the 1845 pattern.
Overall this fine sword measures 98cms long in the scabbard, 97cms out with a blade of 82cms.
The entire sword is extremely well preserved with the hilt is particualr having a shark skin grip being unblemished, all the spiral wire binding present, the leather knuckle pad also present and intact. The bullion sword knot is also present. The knuckle guard is of decorative three bar form with a scrolling VR Monogram under the Royal Crown. The back strap is decorated and the pommel of a stacked formation. The hilt also retains its folding guard.
The blade is decorated with frosted panels of vines and the VR monogram to both sides and shows the makers name in a frosted panel at the forte reading "Maynard Harris & Grice Leadenhalls London".
To the reverse of the forte is a plug with "Proven" written around a central "P" sitting with the seal of Solomon. The original leather spacer is also found to the base of the blade.
The leather scabbrd is rigid and free of breaks or damage. The decorative scrolled fittings are of a stylised "V" and are also free from damage.
