A very fine 19th century short Jian.
This example measures just under 57cms sheathed, 55cms out with a blade approx 40cms long.
This sword has been very well kept and cleaned with all surfaces of the fittings and blade in full polish.
The fittings are in brass and display bats and symbols of longevity. The scabbard covering is a turtle shell veneer over yellow painted timber.
The ribbed hilt is a boulbous shape with one minor loss to a rib.
The blade shows very fine laminated surfaces running the length of the blade.
Overall a very fine example.
