9th Gurkha rifle company
Presented Kukri

9th Gurkha rifle company Presented Kukri www.swordsantiqueweapons.com

A good WWII period Kukri with presentation.
This example measures just over 44cms in the sheath, 41.5cms out with a blade of 30.5cms.
The Kukri is complete with sheath, frog and metal band to the throat. All remain in good condition with age and wear use. Only the Chakmak remains with the sheath.
The blade is chisel engraved with the words, "Presented By Boys Coys 9th GRC". Likely a presentation gift from the 9th Gurkha Rifles to an individual associated with them, presented as a token of appreciation. Many such dedications were made during the closing period of WWII to serve as mementos of time spent with comrades in arms.
A very nice near complete piece of military history.
