An exceptional release from my personal collection.

This very rare broad and heavy Sossun Pata or Patah measures 84cms long in its scabbard and 82.5cm long out.
It's blade length is 70cms long with a 4cms wide forte and a 4.5cms wide belly.
The T-spine of this sword is very thick and the scarf welds running throughout the spine are filled with silver.
The large hilt is in an exceptional state of preservation. The darkened steel surfaces have been deeply chiseled and filled with silver and small amounts of gold in the Zar Buland fashion.
The high raised silver is also decorated with further engraving.
The blade is also of an exceptional and rare quality. The surfaces show a very prominent wootz pattern of the Kirk Narbudan type of ladders of the prophet. While the spine shows clear scarf welding construction, the faces of the blade do not reveal any differences in the steel surface.
The scabbard is a simple type, of a timber inner and faded velvet outer, likely of approx 1920's manufacture being when this sword was last auctioned.

A very fine and rare sword for the advanced collector.
