A nice Indian Shamshir with unusual silver work and a gold Persian cartouche and magic square known as a Bedouh.
The excellent fighting sword measures 85cms in a straight line with a blade length of 73cms.
The sword remains in original untouched condition having a dark patina to the hilt and most surfaces of the blade. Clearly visible beneath the patina is a very well controlled pattern welded blade surface.
Both sides of the forte and the spine region display a very rare and unusual tarnished silver geometric design. The right face of the blade retains Persian script within a cartouche and a very rare magic square or Bedouh, (Egerton, 1880, page 5), something seldom seen on either Persian or Indian blades.

An excellent Indian Tulwar/Shamshir that will grade up very well with little time and effort.
