A very good and complete Vietnamese fighting sword.

In the scabbard this fine and rare sabre measures 84cms long. Out it is just under 74cms with a thick 59cm blade.
The hilt is horn and shows a well carved lion pommel and raised Shou symbols to the sides. The fittings to both the hilt and the scabbard are fine brass fittings with very thick suspension rings.
The scabbard is undecorated Rosewood in very good order, free from loss or damage.
The blade is thick, sharp and heavy which displays a very nice all other darkened iton patina.

The presence of the thick suspension rings, absense of mother of pearl decoration and the thick sturdy fighting blade all point to this example being a weapon for combat rather that regalia dress.
A very fine and seldom seen fighting sword from Vietnam
