This Thai sword is a rare and exceptional piece throughout.

The overall length of the Darb or Daab is 88cms long, out it is 86cms long with a 47cm blade.
The hilt is bone with silver and copper embellishments.
The silverwork is in excellent condition throughout and is finished at the blade with a small Tsuba like guard of thick copper.
The hilt grip has all the appearances of whale bone with a very pleasing warm caramel colour and a multitude of fine flecks of various browns throughout the entire surface. It is heavy and very solid. The carved relief is very deeply carved and is free from damage.
The designs to the hilt are most interesting in that they show 'demons' climbing over one another towards the lotus bud pommel, perhaps a symbol of damned souls looking for rebirth???
The blade is lightly stained and free from rust, loss or damage.
The shape is also unusual with a narrow base and widening towards a curved hatchet like tip.
The scabbard is silver over timber with the usual slight bumps and splits.

A very fine and exceptional sword that is both visually striking and functional and has a perfect balance immeadiately behind the thick copper guard.
