A very good and unusual Indian Khandjar.

This example measures 41cms long sheathed, 39cms long out and carried an 18cms blade measured from under the guard to the tip in a straight line.
The hilt is that of the Chillanum type dagger cast in bronze which shows a nice age patina to most of the surfaces but with evidence of polished surfaces in areas.
The blade is fitted in to the bronze hilt and secured with three iron pins and decorative copper rosettes.
The blade retains very sharp edges and a full armour piercing tip.
The sheath is worn purple velvet over a timber inner. The tip of the sheath has a polished brass drag with a bud finial and pierced tulip motifs to both sides. Beneath the drag is the remains of a copper bullion thread that would have once covered the seam in the velvet and wound around the throat in a traditional manner.

A fine and unusual Indian dagger.
