A fine and complete Moro Kris.

This Kris is just under 72cms sheathed, just under 67cms out with a blade length just over 55cms.
The demure Bunti wood kakatua pommel has a small repair to the rear. The grip is cord bound in and resin coated as was often seen. A single iron asang-asang helps hold the blade in place.
The large broad 13 luk blade remains in excellent condition throughout. The base is 11cms wide with the body of the blade being 4cms wide.
The surfaces of the blade show a fine differential laminated pattern beneath the patina.
The original sheath is bound below the throat is a woven and plaited cord. This unusual method and placement of cord is not commonly seen on Kris. In this instance it appear to be holding secure the two halves of the sheath and keeping secure a couple of age cracks running down from the throat of the sheath. One could also suggest that having the cord at this place would also keep the kris more secure in a sash mount.

A fine example of a Philippine fighting sword.
