A fine and unusual Indian sabre.

This Talwar measures 91cms long overall. The blade length is 79cms long from the tip to the centre of the quillon block.
The hilt is a solid all bronze construction. The pommel is a large open mouthed Makara and the quillon ends are tiger heads. The grip is octagonal in cross section with chevrons pointing towards the langets.
The knuckle bow is cracked beneath the lower jaw of the Makara.
The blade is a fine hollow forged type with a good cutting edge. The blade is marked to the right side with Gurda marks and star marks.

A very fine fighting sword with a rare bronze figural hilt.
