A very fine Black Sea Yataghan with signed blade.

The length of this Black Sea Yataghan or Laz Bicagi/Laz Bichaq is 72cms overall. The blade length is 57cms to the bolster.
This fine weapon is certainly the most unusual weapons from the Trans Caucasian arsenal.
The hilt is of a slender and most unusual form having bifurcated horn pommels. The grip slabs are also horn and they are encased in a brass grip strap over the tang.
The very fine quality blade has a large deep belly and an upswept tip with a needle point. There are five fullers to each side and each fuller is surrounded by brass inlay.
The thick spine shows distal taper to the tip and the cutting edge. The spine is inlayed with highly details brass inlay and is also very finely details with geometric patterns chiseled in to the steel. There is also a raised medial ridge running through to the tip.
At two places to the left face of the blade there are two sunken cartouches bearing Islamic signatures. Each Signature is covered in brass.

A very fine and rare example of the Laz Bichaq with a signed blade and very fine quality construction.
