A very fine large and rare Spanish Navaja.
This Navaja dated to the late 19th century 43.4cms closed and 81.5cms open.
The body of the knife is brass over timber. The entire surface is decorated in very finely engraved motifs with capped ends and is free from loss or damage.
The blade is engraved Fabrica de Albacete 1894. Below the manufacturing details is a tradition Spanish slogan, loosely translated to "If this viper itches for you there is not remedy in the pharmacy", certainly true when considering the size of it.
The back spring remains very strong and the blade has a nine tooth ratchet cog.
A very fine example in a very rare and desirable size.
