A very rare, likely unique Bugis Chieftan Keris blade.

This example unfortunately lacks its original hilt, hilt cup and butnut off the base of the sheath but it still remains a highly important Chieftan Keris blade in Chieftan dress.
The Pesi (tang) is untouched and at full length, showing a slight curve and an almost faceted like form.
The blade is a 7 luk type of broad Chieftan fashion.
What sets this apart from most Chieftan blades that are found, is the controlled/manipulated pamor of an almost ladder like fashion running through the central body of the blade whilst the edges retain their longitudinal patterns.
The dress is of a very fine burl wood upper and a plain timber body.

A very fine and very rare blade type worthy of further research.
