A good heavy Bhutanese or Sikkim side arm.

This short sword measures 59cms long in its sheath and 56cms out.
The blade is 40cms long and very heavy for its size.
The hilt and scabbard are bound in a brown leather and have minor splits and losses to both, as seen in the photos provided.
To the back of the scabbard is an iron suspension loop through which sits an old buff leather knot for belt mounting.
The blade is a heavy steel type, single edged and still very sharp. It has a collar between the blade and hilt that is typical of Bhutanese swords.

A rare sword type from a little known part of the world that remains in very good condition for its age, being most likely the early part of the 20th century.
