A very rare and unusual Masonic dagger.

This large dagger at just under 66cms is more akin to a short sword than a dagger.
The waisted and tapering blade shows a central fuller and is 49cms long.
The blade suffers age pitting and spotting but would grade up with a professional polish.
The guard was a stamp to the centre of one side. The quillons are the form of bones as is seen across many Masonic daggers and swords.
The hilt is most unusual in that it is coffin shaped with a hinged portion that opens to reveal a mull or snuff case.
The coffin is very detailed showing clearly the side handles, 8 screws on the lid and brushed like surface.
To the pommel end of the hilt there is a shield with the letters "RIP" and above this a noose.

A very rare and impressive piece of Masonic regalia.
