A very fine and complete Khanjar from the Bahrain's monarchy.

This exceptional and rare find measures 31cms tall in the sheath, 30cms out with a blade length just under 19cms.
The hilt is a single piece of solid Rhino horn. It is decorated in very fine silver embellishments.
The sheath is of classic style. It is a timber inner decorated with silver, blue cloth and silver bullion thread.
The thick white cloth belt is embellished with blue cloth and gold bullion thread and has a silver buckle with tan leather strap.

The throat of the sheath appears to carry the name of "Shaikh Salman bin Hamad AlKhalifa", (10 October 1894 - 2 November 1961), who was the ruler of Bahrain from 1942 until his death in 1961.
Whilst named, it is more likely that this Khanjar was part of a uniform for his official entourage.

A very fine and historically important Khanjar from the Bahrain monarchy.
