A very good and rare Bugis Keris of Chieftain style.

The overall length of this Keris in the sheath is 42cms. Out it is 41cms with a 33cms blade.
The hilt is classical Bugis styling with a mendak, although now tarnished, that shows to be silver over a copper like cup, perhaps Suasa?
The blade is a thick broad type with well defined edges and a fine patterned surface.
The sheath is constructed of fine timbers, now showing a rich dark patina. It is 17cms wide across the top and just under 7cms wide across the stem. The lower half of the stem is covered in a traditional black painted pattern.

A very rare Keris is very god and complete condition.
