A very nice light Spear or Javelin from the Kelling Hall collection.

Overall this piece is 154cms, has a 32cm forged iron spear head and a tapered brass collar of 12cms.
The spear head is mounted to a long section of straight brown bamboo. The shaft has a number of narrow age cracks to the bamboo but overall remains in healthy condition for its age.
Like most of the spears, lances of Javelins found in the Kelling Hall collection, this piece also has a point of balance approx 3cms back from the collar and again has the feel of very good flight.
The head of this example has a slightly flared base and a more interesting faceted surface between the head and the collar.

A nice light quality Javelin that has remained untouched for the last 100+ years.
