A very nice complete dance club from New Guinea.
This dance club is 103cms long. The head is lobed with a collar if shell bases bound between it and a faceted and checkered section below. Above the lobed head is old twine that shows the remains of feathers bound to it.
The base of this club shows a carved geometric design. Attached to the base are nut shells hanging from twie with small shell suspended within being bell ringers. These nut and shell ringers provide a wonderful and primitave sound when shaken as they would have been during ceremony.
A very nice dance club.
