A good heavy old fighting sword from the Luzon regions of the Philippines.
This short sword is 57cms long with a 43cms long blade.
The hilt is horn and curves to one side which offers a very comfortable grip. There is an iron collar supporting the hilt. The blades tang is secured through the pommel, over a small octagonal iron spacer.
The scale like surface of the blade is similar to several 19th centruy Spanish knives I have handled from the Albacete regions which most likely places this piece to the Philippine regions during Spanish occupation.
A very heavy and efficient fighting sword, likely 19th century.
