A very fine French Officer's hunting Cuttoe.

The overall length of this fine sword is 71cms sheathed, 68cms out with a blade length of 53cms.
The hilt profile is that of the Karabela swords and this type hilt reflects European intrigue with 'oriental' style that many of the French swords of this period have.
The entire hilt and guard is of gilded silver construction and carries grip slabs of pure black ebony.
The attention to detail with the chased silver quillons, quillon block, grip strap and rosette is extremely fine.
The oval rosettes retain gilded surfaces to the inner oval as do the background surfaces of the quillon black.
The very fine blade retains mosts of its gilding to the forte and also the gilding to the letters of this blades manufacturer, KLINGENTHAL.
The forte decoration is a most unusual quarterfoil theme.
The blade is free from loss or damage and carries an original clipped tip and a full needle point.

A seldom seen and very fine complete French Officers Hunting sword from the 18th century.
